District honors facilities staff and accepts $50,000 half-year gift from CFSD Foundation

Dr. Bartlett (identified in the meeting as the presenter of outstanding achievements) recognized the high school robotics team’s recent successes and introduced recognition for Brian McNitt (director of facilities and transportation) and Carolyn Seivert (procurement specialist). Bartlett summarized their roles: McNitt manages HVAC, energy systems, grounds and long-term facilities planning; Seivert manages procurement, supplier relationships and capital asset records. The board said the pair’s work helped secure building renewal grants from the State School Facilities Division.
Bartlett said the district received $4,628,778.61 in building renewal funds over the past two years that were, she said, attributable in part to McNitt and Seivert’s efforts. The board presented each employee a certificate and a pin in recognition of those efforts.
Separately, Amy Morales Baum, president of the CFSD Foundation, presented a semiannual check for $50,000 to support the district’s professional development program (Great Beginnings). Morales Baum said the foundation’s mission is to raise supplemental funds to attract, develop and retain excellent educators; she noted the foundation has operated for more than 40 years.
Board members thanked the foundation and noted the impact of the Foundation’s donations on professional development and classroom instruction. There was no formal vote recorded for the recognition presentations; the board accepted the foundation gift with thanks.
Ending: The board recognized multiple student groups and staff achievements earlier in the meeting and said names of winning students and teams would be published in the district newsletter and newspaper.
