Cabot board spotlights staff and students for PLC achievements

The Cabot School District board on April 7 continued its monthly building spotlight program, recognizing staff and students chosen by principals for leadership, growth and contributions to the district’s PLC (professional learning community) process.

Principals selected one staff member and one student from each featured building to represent achievement in teaching, leadership and student improvement. Administrators described the selection criteria as focusing on instructional leadership, teamwork within PLCs and measurable student progress.

At Junior High North, Principal Travis Sheets (presenter) recognized a staff member, Taylor (last name not specified in transcript) for leadership work including serving on multiple leadership committees and guiding PLC decision‑making. The school also honored student Landon Chase, an eighth grader who administrators said raised his interim English score from level 2 to level 3 and moved to level 4 in mathematics on recent assessments. The principal said Chase advocated to join honors science midyear and that his grades and classroom citizenship improved markedly.

At Panther Academy, the board honored a counselor described as “extraordinaire” and a student named Chance, who administrators said began the year as a shy fifth grader and has shown marked academic and social growth while attending the program. Chance’s academic gains and daily positive engagement were highlighted by multiple staff speakers.

Board members said the spotlights celebrate both academic progress and the social‑emotional work staff do to support students. The district said the spotlight recognitions will continue as part of a monthly effort to showcase successful PLC work and exemplary staff contributions.
