A committee member asked whether the change would prevent people from citing personal objections; staff responded that the state form is titled "religious exemption" and requires annual submission.
Pat Higgins said he had noticed an increase in exemption requests since COVID‑19 and asked about consequences for refusal to immunize. Staff said previously medical exemptions had been one‑time submissions but that the state moved to annual renewals to ensure continuing accuracy of records.
The committee recorded no objections and agreed to move the updated immunization language forward as an agenda item for a future board business meeting.
