The Lubbock Independent School District Board of Trustees voted to adopt an order canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the May 3, 2025 bond election at an 11:15 a.m. meeting, the board announced.
Under the authority of the Texas Election Code, the presiding officer read the results to the board and then members moved to adopt the canvass order. Trustee Lalo moved to adopt; Trustee John seconded. The motion was adopted by voice vote and the board adjourned at 11:17 a.m.
Trustee Dr. Rolleau thanked the community and volunteers after the vote. "We are just extremely grateful to our community for their support of this bond and, grateful to the countless volunteers," Dr. Rolleau said, naming Melin Henry, Zeb Alexander and Reed Hooks for "incredible" leadership.
The presiding officer read the results as recorded during the canvass: "Results for the Lubbock ISD proposition a were as follows. 6,729 total votes 4 for 66.08% of the vote, 3,454 total votes against for 33.92% of the vote." Those figures were presented to the board as the official returns at the meeting.
The board cited the Texas Election Code as the legal authority for canvassing the election returns. No roll-call vote tally of trustees was recorded in the meeting transcript; the order was adopted by voice vote with no member recorded as opposed.
The meeting contained a single administrative action item and concluded immediately after the canvass and adoption of the canvas order.
