Council awards architectural contract for planned medical clinic to VCBO Architecture

Springdale Town Council voted April 9 to award architectural services for the town’s planned medical clinic to VCBO Architecture, following an RFP process that produced 10 responses. Staff said the selection committee recommended VCBO and that staff concurs.
The council discussed the grant that will fund a portion of the architectural work: the Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO) grant covers architecture through schematic design and must be spent within two years. Town staff said the firm will be engaged through construction, but the GOEO grant covers the early design phases (master planning and schematic design); later design and construction-phase services will be paid for from construction financing.
The scope of work for the master plan includes site planning for the full two-acre parcel containing the town’s planned civic uses so the clinic, town hall and other facilities can be coordinated. Councilmembers asked about schedule and grant compliance; staff said the grant-funded portion of the work (through schematic design) will be completed within the two-year GOEO funding window.
Action: Motion to award architectural services for the new medical clinic to VCBO Architecture passed unanimously (motion by Randy Aton; second by Jack Burns; Jack Burns, Randy Aton, Barbara Bruno, Pat Campbell, Kyla Topham — all "aye").
