The DEIS hearing drew a string of public supporters who told the council the redevelopment would revitalize downtown, increase foot traffic and add affordable housing. Leo Torres, vice president of architecture and design at Ginsburg Development Companies, said the project will “allow sunlight to filter down onto Main Street” and create “a publicly accessible park and plaza” while adding “just under 400 entirely new affordable housing units.”
