Staff and councilors repeatedly referenced a $1,500 funding line for these council micro-grants; one group had requested $2,800 for a concept design for a larger Center Street project.
Councilors also discussed leveraging donations and partnerships to stretch city dollars: examples cited were fundraising for a skate-park and using volunteer labor or partner matches so city funds cover design or seed costs. Staff indicated some projects will be advanced immediately while others could be staged or matched with outside donations.
No formal council action was taken during the discussion; staff said they would follow up with project leads, provide cost estimates and return with recommendations that fit the current budget.
