Carrollton Fire Rescue donates ambulance to Creekview High School fire academy for training

Carrollton Fire Rescue and the city of Carrollton are donating an out-of-service ambulance to Creekview High School’s fire academy, district staff said May 1.
Leanne Stone introduced the donation and explained how the ambulance will be repurposed on the Creekview campus. "The ambulance is actually gonna be used for Creekview High School. The back part, the box of the ambulance is going to be removed from the actual ambulance...and then we're going to have that installed in the new classroom so that there is a space where the students can simulate an ambulance ride without having to actually get on the physical ambulance," Stone said.
Instructor Chris Holterhoff, representing Carrollton Fire Rescue, described the gift as a practical community partnership and noted the vehicle will support both emergency-services simulation and automotive coursework: the ambulance box will be fitted into a classroom for simulated patient-care training, and the remaining chassis and engine — still functional though not in prime condition — will be assigned to the campus auto shop so students can work on a real emergency vehicle.
Assistant instructor Julian Gomez was introduced as the lead instructor for next year’s expanded dual-credit offerings; Holterhoff said he will remain involved as well. The board and district staff marked the donation with a brief photo opportunity; no separate board vote on the donation was recorded during the meeting.
