The Yonkers City Council on Tuesday adopted a resolution recognizing April 13–19, 2025 as National Public Safety Telecommunications Week in the city of Yonkers to honor dispatchers and other public safety telecommunicators.
Council members praised dispatchers as “the first person you talk to when you have a serious issue at home” and acknowledged their role calming callers and coordinating response. Minority Leader Breen said he “wholeheartedly” supported the recognition and thanked dispatchers for their work.
Council President Collins Bellamy offered special acknowledgment to Aller Evas for long service in the Yonkers dispatch center. The measure passed by unanimous vote, 7 to 0; the resolution is a recognition and does not enact policy or budget changes.
