The White Plains Planning Board on March 18 approved an eligible facility upgrade for a wireless carrier that will replace existing antennas and associated equipment at a local site, subject to standard conditions including testing and review of the radio-frequency (RF) report.
Marty McGee, representing Arrowsmith Development and New Singular Wireless (commonly known as AT&T), told the board the work will replace nine antennas (three sectors of three antennas each) with newer models that are “gonna be slightly taller by about 17 inches” and “thinner and less depth.” He also said the upgraded installation will include small remote radio head units and that the four ground cabinets will remain, preserving the request’s status as an eligible facilities request.
A board staff member reminded the board that final approval would not be issued until the city’s Department of Buildings and Wiring (DBW) approves the RF report and that the equipment must be tested before it is energized. The board made a motion to approve the request with the usual conditions; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote.
The approval requires the carrier to operate within Federal Communications Commission standards and to complete testing and DBW sign-off before equipment activation.
