The City of White Plains Planning Board on Feb. 18 agreed to draft a letter to the Common Council indicating it has no objection to a one-year extension of site plan approval for the proposed Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, a five-story, 96-bed residential health-care facility at 315-317 North Street.
Annie Klein, an associate at the applicant's law firm, said the Common Council granted site-plan approval Feb. 5 and the project is located in the planned health-care campus development district adjacent to the existing Elizabeth Seton Children's Center. The board heard that the new building would serve medically fragile young adults ages 18 to 35, who might age out of the existing facility, and that the proximity would allow sharing of services such as rehabilitation and aquatic therapy.
Board members asked whether any construction had started; the applicant said preliminary site work had occurred but full construction had not begun. The board voted to draft the letter to the Common Council stating no objection to extending the site-plan approval for one year.
The board’s action was limited to preparing a nonbinding advisory letter to the Common Council; final extension authority rests with the Common Council.
