Councilman Brash said items 1–5 authorize an additional $492,000 in bond principal to finance parks and recreational area work, and that the total Battle Hill project will amount to $654,000 with $162,000 coming from community development funds. “I am extremely pleased that we are going to be building the Battle Hill Playground. We're gonna be spending $654,000,” Brash said.
Council President Vicky Presser and Councilwoman Puja both praised the city’s ongoing, rotating program of playground replacements and upgrades, noting recent additions of accessible equipment in other parks. Council members said the city typically renovates or replaces roughly one playground each year as part of equitable investment across neighborhoods.
The bond authorization and associated allocations were adopted as part of the consent agenda (items 1–69). The action authorizes the city to issue up to $492,000 in additional bonds to finance acquisition, construction or reconstruction of park and recreational areas, with community development funds to cover the remainder of the project’s stated cost.
