Binghamton City Clerk Sarah Denhofer presented RL25-72, an ordinance to amend the general fund budget to reflect title and salary adjustments in the clerk’s office. Denhofer said the changes align with earlier budget-season discussions and internal office reorganizations.
Key changes include renaming a licensing-clerk position to senior licensing clerk and correcting a title in the vital statistics budget from licensing clerk to vital statistics clerk. Denhofer said the vital-statistics clerk promotion carries an updated salary of $37,350 and that a new hire for the senior licensing clerk position is scheduled to start the coming Monday.
Denhofer asked the council to expedite the ordinance so the roles and pay lines are in place before the new employee’s start date. Council moved, seconded and voted 7-0 on expedition. Denhofer said the office has cleared a backlog in vital records and is pursuing a grant to digitize further records.
