April 16, 2025 — Park County Fairgrounds committees continued work on strategic statements and governance items and discussed drafting a letter of support for hiring marketing support ahead of the county budget process.
Board members said committee strategic statements will help define roles and boundaries for governance, master planning, external affairs and other standing committees. Christina Nelson and committee members said governance has a draft of bylaw edits and a leg up on the review. Charlotte Barrows reported that committee work focused on clarifying responsibilities so items are routed to the appropriate committee rather than becoming a catchall.
External Affairs members described drafting a marketing job description to support social media and outreach for the fairgrounds. Morgan (director) said the board will soon enter the county budget cycle and suggested the board consider writing a letter of support or recommendation to the county commissioners to hire or contract for marketing or social media management. The board discussed the timing required to approve a letter and the possibility of a brief special meeting to finalize and sign a letter before the commissioners consider department budgets.
Governance also discussed document management options for board records currently stored on county‑managed network drives and agreed Riley Roberts Adams would research options and report back.
No formal policy or hiring decisions were made at Wednesday’s meeting; committees will continue work and present final strategic statements, bylaw edits, marketing job description and any letter of support to the full board at a future meeting.
