Commissioners confirm board appointments, instruct staff to advertise vacancies including medical-center lease notice

Granite County commissioners accepted new applications for local advisory bodies, authorized advertising open seats across county boards and directed staff to reach out to a Tri County Fair Board member who has missed meetings.

Why it matters: County advisory boards help run services and programs; filling vacancies restores capacity for fair operations, DUI prevention work and other county advisory functions.

Appointments and advertising - The commission accepted applicants to the DUI task force and related advisory roles; names recorded in meeting minutes included Don Reese and Amanda Boyer among others (applications on file). The commission moved and approved those appointments by voice vote. - Commissioners agreed to advertise current vacancies countywide, listing openings for boards such as the compensation board, planning and zoning appeals, tax appeal board and other advisory panels; staff will publish notices in the local paper as required.

Tri County Fair Board issue - Amanda Weaver (representing the Ford River area) asked the commission to remove or replace a Fair Board member who has not attended since November and has not sent a resignation. Commissioners directed staff to send both an email and a hard-copy letter asking the member to confirm intent; if no response is received within a week the commission will proceed with replacement steps and advertise the vacancy.

Procedural notes - Commissioners also directed staff to advertise a five-week public notice for the Granite County Medical Center building lease (separate motion described below) and to continue collecting letters of interest and applications for remaining vacancies.

Ending: Staff will prepare public-notice language for board vacancies and the medical-center lease and will send the requested communications to the absent Fair Board member; vacancies will be placed on the next agenda if required.
