Council reappoints three budget committee members and appoints two new members

City staff reported several expired terms and two vacancies. Staff said Marty Bailey, John Charles and Casey Bailey asked to be reappointed and recommended their four‑year terms be renewed through Dec. 31, 2028. Two vacancies existed because a previous member had been appointed to council and another seat became vacant when a member was elected to council.
The city received two applications for the vacancies. Staff recommended appointing Gail Merritt to fill the seat that expires Dec. 31, 2027 (the seat vacated by the councilmember) and appointing Brian Crocey to the remaining vacancy with a term expiring Dec. 31, 2028. Staff said it had advertised the vacancies and had limited applications; one earlier applicant had withdrawn when contacted.
A councilmember moved to approve renewing the three incumbents’ terms and appointing Gail Merritt and Brian Crocey to the two vacancies; council seconded the motion and approved it by voice vote. Staff will process the appointments and update committee rosters.
