Prineville moves to award 2025 spring paving project to 7 Peaks Paving

Councilors discussed pavement condition index (PCI) goals and long-term funding strategy for the street network. Kiser said the city’s last PCI score was 75 and that the target “sweet spot” is in the mid-80s; he described the city’s program of combining full-depth reclamation with surface treatments, seal coating and crack sealing to raise the score. Councilors asked for further reporting on long-range funding options, including borrowing, to accelerate pavement-condition improvements.
A motion to approve the intent to award to 7 Peaks Paving carried; the council recorded the motion and the item passed at the meeting.
