City staff told the Fayetteville City Historical Commission that the city clerk’s office is transitioning commission agendas into a single online agenda system, and the commission may remove procedural agenda‑order language from its bylaws to match that system.
Staff explained that the agenda software used by City Council and the Planning Commission will be extended to other commissions; the system’s default item order is similar to the commission’s bylaws but not identical. Staff proposed sending commissioners a redlined bylaw showing proposed edits (including striking the agenda‑order language) and demonstrating the new online agenda view at the next meeting. Staff said state notification rules for bylaw changes require at least 10 days’ notice, and the city clerk’s office has not imposed an immediate deadline.
Commissioners agreed the system could simplify public access: instead of navigating multiple folders on the city website, meeting information will live under a single portal and staff will continue to email meeting notices. Staff also announced that the commission will return to City Hall for future meetings; City Hall’s refurbished Room 101 will host the commission’s next meeting and is equipped with cameras and meeting technology.
Staff said they will circulate visual examples of the new agenda view and a redlined bylaws draft ahead of the next meeting so commissioners can decide whether to accept edits or request changes.
