The Fayetteville City Historical Commission voted to hold its June meeting as a special meeting that will include a site visit to the Henderson School property after owner DeeDee Lamb offered to host a visit.
A staff member told the commission that Lamb “was wondering if the commissioners would be interested in meeting at her house to talk about options and location.” Commissioners agreed a site visit would be useful. The commission recorded concerns about meeting procedures at a private residence, including making the visit an official public meeting, providing an official record and ensuring accessibility; staff said portable audio recording equipment can serve as the official record if a remote/Zoom option is not available.
Commissioners discussed two options: hold the regular meeting first and then adjourn to a site visit, or meet at the site and return to City Hall to continue business. Staff noted that if the visit produces a quorum and votes occur, the session must comply with public‑meeting rules and be recorded. Staff also offered city vehicles from Development Services for transportation to the site.
A motion to treat the June meeting as a special meeting that includes a site visit carried. The commission tentatively selected June 20 for the meeting and asked staff to confirm calendars by email and to circulate final details about timing, parking and accessibility so the property owner and the public are prepared.
No formal land‑use decision was taken at the site‑visit motion; staff will present any location proposals and formal marker text or placement options at a future meeting for commission consideration.
