Little Rock celebrates spring Residents Academy graduates

The Little Rock Board of Directors on April 29 recognized graduates of the city’s 2025 Spring Residents Academy, a five-week program designed to explain code enforcement, city departments and municipal services.
Director Kevin Howard told the board the training “wasn’t just about codes, regulations, or procedures. It’s about becoming more informed citizens.” The program met weekly and drew neighborhood association members and other residents, Howard said.
City officials said the academy brings residents into direct contact with departments — from parks to wastewater — and helps the city resolve problems faster. A resident who completed the course told the board, “I really did enjoy the Residents Academy. There were a lot of things that we learned we didn’t realize,” and said several problems reported during the program were addressed immediately.
City staff said they run two academy sessions a year and aim for 20–30 participants per class. Officials said materials and enrollment information are posted on the city website and that the city is encouraging neighborhood association presidents to attend future sessions.
Board members offered congratulations to the graduates and thanked the code enforcement and other departmental staff who participated in the training.
