City Clerk read the unofficial final election results to the commission. The clerk reported 9,702 registered voters in the two precincts and 2,287 ballots cast, including 1,067 vote-by-mail ballots and 1,220 election-day/walk-in ballots, for a turnout of 23.57 percent.
For Lake Wales mayor, the clerk recorded 890 total votes (39.04 percent) for Curtis Gibson and 1,390 votes (60.96 percent) for Jack Hilligoss. For the Lake Wales Charter Amendment the clerk reported 1,570 votes (75.37 percent) in favor and 513 votes (24.63 percent) against. The clerk said no commission action was required; the results were read into the record.
