District schedules summer reroof and gym audio-visual upgrades; buildings and gyms to close for weeks

Palmdale Aerospace Academy’s director of facilities maintenance and operations outlined summer construction and upgrade schedules that will close campus spaces for multi-week periods.
The director told the board that H Building is scheduled to be closed from June 2 through Aug. 3 for the reroof project. In addition, both campus gyms will be closed from June 23 through July 31 for audio and visual enhancements, the director said. The presentation noted that communications about closures had already been sent to stakeholders and staff.
The director said facilities staff are transitioning from a year of preventive and reactive maintenance to focused construction work for the summer, and that the projects aim to improve campus infrastructure. The facilities director also said staff are collaborating with the business office to pursue the state charter facilities grant.
No board vote was required for the project updates; staff said they will report back with grant application progress and project completion updates.
