The Finance Committee approved a resolution to accept $118,587 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds rolled over to Vernon County’s health department.
Amy, a health department representative, told the committee the funds are leftover reimbursable ARPA money tied to pandemic-era contracts and that the county petitioned the state to roll the money forward after grant contracts ended in December 2024. She said the funds will be used for staffing, lab supplies and other recoveries tied to pandemic work. “The amount is $118,587,” Amy said.
Committee members discussed and agreed to add language making the acceptance a budget amendment before the item goes to the County Board. Committee members noted other counties received similar rollovers; no county match was required for this reimbursement-based grant.
The committee voted to approve the resolution with the added budget amendment language; the item will be reworded before it is presented to the County Board.
