The Dickinson Public Schools Board approved the 2025–26 classified employee salary and benefits package on a voice vote, adopting several changes recommended by the district’s Budget Input and Development Committee.
The package, effective July 1, 2025, includes a new perfect-attendance incentive for classified staff, alignment of sick-leave payout rules with administrators and certified staff, and a 50¢ per-hour increase to the base of the classified salary schedule.
Manager Hunter, presenting for the budget committee, summarized the committee’s recommendations, saying the classified council selected a pilot attendance incentive for the 2025–26 school year. Under the program, classified employees who meet the listed attendance criteria during each eligible month (September through May) would receive an $80 incentive for that month; the district will pay the incentive the following month’s last check, with the example payment date noted as Oct. 30. The committee described exclusions for approved leaves such as military service and jury duty. The committee also reported an estimated 8% increase in self-funded health insurance costs for the coming year, subject to refinement as the budget process continues.
The presentation noted that current district practice pays administrators and certified staff $100 per day for accrued sick leave above the district maximum; the recommendation aligns classified staff to the same payout terms. The committee also recommended a 50¢ per-hour increase to the classified base wage as allowable under recent state funding changes to pupil payment.
Board members asked no substantive questions during the formal motion. The motion to approve the 2025–26 classified salary and benefits package was moved by Mister Wilkins and seconded by Vice President Schwartz. Vice President Schwartz, Mister Orzechowski, Mister Wilkie and the chair recorded aye votes; the chair announced the motion carried.
The board packet for the action item includes a draft handbook showing the proposed language and the attendance-incentive pilot design; the district will return any final budget updates as the committee refines health-insurance estimates.
Implementation details in the motion instruct administrative staff to apply the new salary schedule and benefits language with the stated July 1, 2025, effective date.
