Sloane Elementary site work advances; JE Dunn reports project about 30% complete

Ryan Anderson of JE Dunn Construction gave the Williston Basin School District 7 board an on‑site construction update for Sloane Elementary, reporting the project is approximately 30% complete and describing current and near‑term work.

Anderson said about 60 workers are on site now and the contractor expects the workforce to increase to 80–100 in the coming weeks. Work under way includes steel erection for the west wing (grades 2–5), site utilities, gymnasium roofing and spray foam on canopies. Anderson said slabs on grade would begin in one to two weeks, interior framing would start in two to three weeks, and window installation would begin in four to six weeks.

The project includes a north wing for kindergarten–first grade and a west wing for grades 2–5. Anderson said the north wing is nearly complete and that the contractor has poured the transformer pad and is installing conduits for the electrical service.

Nick Lippert of JLG Architects said the team is verifying owner‑provided equipment against contractor‑provided scopes and will hold a coordination meeting with district staff. Lippert also brought the board’s attention to House Bill 1144, which affects restroom design and use; he said the design team has identified no significant building changes and expects only additional signage to comply with the statute.

Board members asked about schedule tracking; Anderson said the work is "going good" and that early winter work to place precast foundations set the project up well.

No board action was required at the update; board members and contractors agreed to continue coordination as construction proceeds.
