Henrico County Public Schools presented its proposed 2025–2030 strategic plan during a public hearing, and officials said the division is collecting public feedback ahead of a planned school board vote in May.
Dr. Hinton, speaking for the district, told the Henrico County School Board that the proposal builds on the current plan, Destination 2025, and that the division began the strategic planning process in fall 2023. She said the proposed plan — posted on the Henrico County Public Schools website with an online feedback form — is the result of input from students, staff, families and community partners and is intended to guide the district for the next five years.
The plan identifies four strategic focus areas: academic achievement; learning environment; physical, social, emotional and mental health; and recruiting, engaging, retaining and rewarding staff. Dr. Hinton said work groups and a steering committee organized more than 22 focus groups and used annual and community surveys to refine goals, strategies and measures of success. She described the vision for the plan as “empowering every learner.”
Officials emphasized that the division is seeking community feedback through April via the online form and ParentSquare communications. Dr. Hinton said the current strategic plan is set to expire at the end of the school year and that the division’s goal is to bring the proposed plan to the school board for approval in May.
The public hearing produced no public comments. The board chair thanked Dr. Hinton and other staff involved in the effort, including Kinsella for work on the prior plan and Irving for serving on the strategic plan committee. No formal vote or action on the plan occurred at the hearing.
The full proposed strategic plan and the feedback form are available on the Henrico County Public Schools website; the district has asked stakeholders who were not part of focus groups to review the plan and submit comments before the feedback period closes.
