Parent urges external investigation into incidents at Eagles Elementary

During public comment, parent Charles Belair asked the board to commission an external investigator, not paid by the district, to review complaints about staff conduct at Eagles Elementary.
“I got two boys that go down to Eagles Elementary… From here on out, I would recommend you guys hire somebody that's not paid by the school district to do an external investigation,” Belair said. He told board members other parents had approached him claiming similar incidents and said he wanted the district to “open up and look into these schools.”
Belair requested an independent investigator specifically because, he said, parents are reporting repeated incidents. The board did not take immediate action during the meeting; the comment was delivered during the public comment period.
The district’s public comment rules, read earlier in the meeting, instruct speakers to state their name and home school, to avoid criticizing specific employees or students by name, and remind participants the board is not obligated to respond during the public-comment period.
