Dr. Rupak Gandhi introduced the student-activities monitoring report and said the district tracks 13 measures tied to engagement, belonging and academic outcomes. Todd Olsen, who presented the activities report, said many year-long measures remain incomplete until spring-season results and semester grades are final but that current data show the district is on target for goals. Jackie (staff member) walked trustees through the standard-of-effort report, which compares fiscal 2024 metrics across peer districts and includes per-pupil spending breakdowns, student-teacher ratios, transportation spend and special-education child counts.
Why it matters: Trustees highlighted a consistent pattern the district observes: secondary students who participate in co-curricular activities had a higher average GPA (3.27) compared with nonparticipants (2.47), a figure discussed by several trustees as evidence of the activities' positive association with academic outcomes. Board action: A motion to accept that "reasonable progress" had been made on strategic initiative 3 for the 2024'25 school year passed by roll call 9'0; a separate motion accepting reasonable progress on strategic initiative 4 also passed 9'0.
Ending: Trustees asked administration to continue cross-district learning on family engagement strategies and to correct a chart color-key mismatch noted during the presentation; staff said corrected materials will be posted.
