Pulaski County School Board completes reorganization and approves grant, personnel and policy items

Gina Payne was elected chair of the Pulaski County School Board and Sabrina Cox was elected vice chair during the board’s Jan. 14 reorganization meeting, which included multiple housekeeping votes on officers, agents and standing procedures.

The board also approved a resolution to release a grant award and accepted a proposal allowing a school‑division speech‑language pathologist (SLP) to shift to part‑time status while continuing to provide services through the end of the school year. The board unanimously approved several additional items on the consent and action agendas, including: designation of superintendent designees to sign Virginia Department of Education reports, retention of the law firm Sands Anderson and Timberlake Smith, approval of minutes and the consent agenda, recognition resolutions for partner organizations, and a small local wellness‑policy wording change moved to the action agenda and approved.
