Russell County School Board approves naming Castlewood softball field for coach John Sabo

Board members moved to approve the request. "I'll be glad to make the motion to name the Castle Softball Field after John Sabo," said a board member. After a second and brief discussion the board approved the motion by voice vote. The chair called for those in favor and no opposition was recorded during the voice vote.
The board did not discuss signage cost, installation timing or an implementation date during the meeting. The motion approved the naming request; staff or a committee will coordinate any follow-up details such as sign production and placement.
