Abrams Academy renovation design on track; $1.89 million budgeted, bids planned before March

If bids come in below budget, three items would be considered as add alternates: an exterior brick ramp to replace the existing metal ramp, four small‑group classrooms at the east end, and a portion of the main corridor work.
Mr. Bauer said the design includes upgraded HVAC, lighting, finishes and technology. “We feel comfortable that what we're showing here is within the project budget,” he told the board, and he described a construction window that would begin after Memorial Day and run through July so work could be completed before the school year starts.
Why it matters: Abrams Academy serves smaller class sizes and alternative programming; the renovation will create appropriately sized instructional spaces and improve bathrooms, offices and access. The board will consider bids and a contract if the competitive process yields prices that fit the established budget.
