The Page County School Board opened a pre‑budget hearing at its Jan. 23 meeting and closed it after no one signed up to speak. The hearing was a required step in the division’s FY‑26 budget process.
Finance director Miss Seacrest told the board the December monthly financials were in the packet and that expenditures and revenue for the month were $3,795,343.85; she noted the local match had been balanced with the treasurer.
The board accepted claims for payment in two settlements on the docket. For the Jan. 9 claim certification the operating fund was $197,412.82 and the food-service fund $22,030.03 for total disbursements of $219,442.85. For Jan. 23, the operating fund claims were $94,469.49 and the food-service fund $25,370.40 for total disbursements of $119,889.89. A motion to accept the claims was made and seconded and recorded on the minutes.
Superintendent Dr. Fox and staff reviewed the budget timeline: stakeholder input has been gathered, the board held the pre‑budget hearing, and the division will present a proposed FY‑26 budget on Feb. 27 before joint meetings with the County Board of Supervisors. The superintendent also reminded the board of legislative activity in Richmond that could affect state funding and that staff will continue to monitor governor and General Assembly actions.
The board voted multiple routine consent items (agenda approval, consent agenda, purchase approvals) during the meeting; motions and seconders were recorded in the meeting record and carried by roll call.
