Court approves $152,102 payment for CenterPoint pole relocations along Chambers Parkway

Chambers County commissioners on May 13 approved a utility service agreement tied to the Chambers Parkway project that includes a $152,102 payment for relocation of power poles outside the highway right of way.
County staff described the payment as part of a negotiated easement and relocation with CenterPoint; the company will request an easement across county property and will pay for that easement. "With the construction of Chambers Parkway... some other poles have to be relocated that's outside of the right of way, which is where this utility service agreement comes into play," a county representative said.
The county said the payment and easement negotiations have been completed and that the cost is expected to be recovered through the easement process. Commissioner Dagley moved to approve the agreement; Commissioner Tass seconded. The court approved the motion by voice vote.
Staff said the relocation is required to allow construction of the Chambers Parkway siphon and to finish the roadway connection between AmeriCorps and Highway 1405. The county's action allows staff to finalize the CenterPoint easement and proceed with coordination required for the Parkway work.
