Council approves change order increasing Drive Fort Greenway contract to $3.6 million

Public Works Director Chad Birdsong presented three items in the change order: (1) revisions to reinforced-concrete box culvert headwall elevations ($6,937.70), (2) substitution of 8-inch ductile-iron class 52 pipe for a planned PVC creek crossing ($15,635.48), and (3) an asphalt pavement unit-price adjustment tied to a prior reduction in asphalt quantity (net increase $9,794). Birdsong presented the original contract price and prior change orders: original Mega KC contract $3,440,468.25; Change Order No. 1 $125,008.49; after that the contract stood at $3,572,333.74. Change Order No. 2 increased the contract by $32,367.18, bringing the new contract total to $3,604,700.92. Birdsong said $159,748.08 remained available for additional change orders within the original grant allocation.
Councilmembers had no substantive questions, and the resolution passed on unanimous roll-call vote (Rennie, McGovern, Speer, Mayor Pro Tem Saint John, Mayor Mark Spahn voted yes).
