During the March 20 work session the Stafford County School Board moved into a closed meeting under Virginia Code §2.2‑3711(a)(1) to discuss disciplinary action regarding an elementary support services employee.
A motion to convene the closed meeting was made during the session, and the board conducted a roll call for attendance before recessing into closed session. After the closed meeting the board adopted a certification resolution stating that, to the best of each member’s knowledge, only matters lawfully exempted from open meeting requirements were discussed and that only items identified in the motion convening the closed meeting were considered.
The certification resolution passed on a roll call in which board members recorded agreement. Board Chair announced there would be no public action coming out of the closed session. The meeting then adjourned.
The board cited Virginia Code §2.2‑3711(a)(1) as the statutory authority for the closed meeting.
