The council first approved an MOU with the City of Hitchcock and then approved an MOU with the City of Santa Fe to create shared special response teams intended to strengthen interoperability and mutual aid for critical incidents. City staff and the police chief described the agreements as interlocal cooperation to pool resources and personnel for rapid tactical and emergency responses.
Both resolutions were approved by council votes and will be executed by the city manager upon final review. City staff said the MOUs are similar in scope and will be managed through the police department with legal review already completed.
