Groves council appoints members to EDC, Planning & Zoning and Zoning Board of Adjustments

The Groves City Council on April 28 confirmed appointments to the Groves Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Planning and Zoning Commission and the Zoning Board of Adjustments.

Council members voted to appoint ward representatives and at-large members to meet statutory representation requirements and to name alternates for the Planning and Zoning Commission. The motion passed unanimously: Mayor voted aye, Mayor Pro Temkinidis aye, Council member Holmes aye, Council member Gay aye and Council member McAdams aye.

For the Economic Development Corporation, council named one representative per ward and three at-large members. The council reported the following: Ward 1 — Lisa Knouse; Ward 2 — Karen Tice; Ward 3 — Kirk Gillespie; Ward 4 — Ken Lofton. The three at-large appointments were Chad Gary, Lane Howlett and Melissa Hoyt.

For the Planning and Zoning Commission the council appointed Lynette Baheid (listed in packet as Lynette Bahid/Baheath), Michael Campes (listed as Michael Kempis/Campes), Chris Crane, Rodney Paccetti and Craig McCoy as regular members, with Charles Gillette and Brett Hegedorn named as alternates.

For the Zoning Board of Adjustments the council retained five regular members: Sydney Rollins (Rollins/Rollin/Rolitz in packet), Alex Bay Heath (Bob Heath/Bay Heath variations in packet), James Carpenter, Bill Harchie (listed as Harchie/Harte) and Jeremy Mitchell.

Council discussed the need to identify alternates for the Zoning Board of Adjustments going forward; at the time of the vote the board had five regular members and no alternates. The council asked staff to continue recruiting alternates as needed.

Those appointed were welcomed and the mayor noted an upcoming EDC meeting will be scheduled; newly appointed members were asked to watch for meeting announcements.
