Visitor urges Highland Village to reconsider nonresident senior park pass pricing

At the May 13 meeting of the Highland Village City Council, a visitor asked the council to consider adjusting park fee tiers so minimal-use nonresidents do not pay substantially more than residents.
Jennifer Lane, who identified herself as a Denton resident, told council she and her husband use Pilot Point park facilities occasionally to paddleboard and asked the city to apply a fee structure similar to camping rates — a smaller differential between resident and nonresident fees — for minimal-use nonresidents. Lane said a nonresident annual pass costs about $100 while a resident senior half-year pass is $15, creating, in her view, an $85 disparity. She asked staff to place the topic on a future agenda or instruct park staff on a more granular fee application.
Mayor Charlotte Wilcox acknowledged the comment; staff did not respond with an immediate pricing change during the meeting. Council did not take action on the request at the May 13 meeting.
