Palmview approved an interlocal agreement with Hidalgo County that continues county-conducted inspection and approval of on-site sewage (septic) facility systems within city limits.
Planning staff said Hidalgo County has historically performed septic inspections inside the city and the renewed agreement maintains that practice. The updated agreement includes a change: the county will charge fees to residents for inspection and reinspection services.
Council members voted in favor of the interlocal agreement by motion and voice vote. Staff indicated residents will be responsible for the newly added inspection fees charged by the county and that the city will continue to coordinate permit and oversight functions as needed.
