Council recognizes two police commanders; chief reports $50M for regional training center

Bridgeton Police Chief Masati on April 1 introduced and congratulated two department lieutenants who recently graduated from the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command and provided an update on a regional police training center effort that has secured state funding.
“I'm here to tell you I'm extremely proud of their accomplishment,” Chief Masati said as he introduced Lieutenant Dusold and Lieutenant Black to the council, noting the program was an intense 10-week class hosted by the Maryland Heights Police Department and that the class included about 30 command-level officers from multiple states.
Chief Masati said Lieutenant Dusold has 31 years of service, began at age 21, has experience as a crime scene investigator and arson investigator, is a member of the major case squad and the Midwest Financial Fraud Investigation Unit, and was promoted to sergeant in 2017 and to lieutenant in 2022. He said Lieutenant Black has 18 years with the department, previously served nine years in the U.S. Marine Corps, served as a field training officer and as a MACTEC instructor for active-shooter response, coordinates the department’s peer-support wellness program, worked with the St. Louis County Special Investigations Unit on undercover assignments, and was promoted to sergeant in 2018 and to lieutenant in 2022.
In a separate staff report, Chief Masati said officials from four counties—St. Louis County, St. Charles County, Franklin County and Jefferson County—had finalized intergovernmental agreements that solidified a $50 million allocation from the state for a proposed regional police training center. He said the counties will form an intergovernmental committee to oversee the entity and that the committee will handle land selection and other development steps.
The chief also noted the Bridgeton Police Department will participate in the DEA Drug Take Back Day at the Government Center parking lot on April 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., an event to collect unused prescription drugs.
