Council approves street maintenance contract year work and vehicle equipment purchase

The Mexico City Council approved staff requests to proceed with annual street maintenance and to purchase equipment for a recently authorized truck chassis.

Staff presented the 2025 crack-and-joint sealing plan under the city’s existing contract with the vendor (referred to in meeting remarks as "Suite Ceiling Services" / contract name variant). Staff said the year’s plan covers approximately 26,500 linear feet (center-line feet) of streets in an area bounded roughly by Jefferson Road to the south, West Street to the west, Liberty Street to the north and Hunting Field Drive to the east. The presentation included an estimated project amount listed in the staff remarks as "$3,034,721.26"; at the subsequent motion staff moved to approve a contract amount reported in the motion as "$34,721.66." The staff presentation stated there are sufficient funds in the city’s CIST fund to cover the project.

Council also authorized purchase of a dump bed for a one-ton truck chassis from Bealman Automotive, of Mexico, Missouri, for $38,000. Staff said the original budget allowed $122,000 for the vehicle purchase and that $53,161 remained in that line to cover the bed purchase.

Both items were moved and approved by the council in meeting motions. The crack-and-joint sealing work proceeds under the existing multi-year contract; staff described the item as a staff report because the underlying contract was already in place. The dump-bed purchase is to equip a chassis the council previously authorized.

No public comment was made on these items at the meeting, and council discussion was limited to clarifying cost and scope.
