Mexico, Missouri — The Mexico City Council on March 10 passed Bill 2025-13, a resolution authorizing the city manager to enter an annual agreement with the Miss Missouri Scholarship Organization.
Staff said the 2024–25 budget contains $10,000 for Miss Missouri Organization Incorporated, noting the city has provided general-fund support for the organization for many years with funding commonly at the $10,000 level except for 2020 when the event was canceled. Alice Leonotti, executive director of the Miss Missouri Scholarship Organization, addressed the council and thanked the city for longstanding support; she said the program draws hundreds of people to local hotels and restaurants during the event week.
Council moved for reading by title and passage of Bill 2025-13 and adopted the resolution unanimously.
The resolution authorizes the city manager to sign an agreement that provides tourism support for the Miss Missouri Scholarship Organization; the executed agreement will specify the amount and terms.
