Veterans urge council to allow golf carts on city streets for easier access to ball fields

Purcell said the veterans had planned to use a purchased golf cart to transport residents to view baseball games but were told that such use was not legal. He asked the council to “take a look at it,” noting other municipalities allow a low-cost tag for golf carts. “I speak as a citizen, but also speak for 150 veterans that live at that VA home out there, would love to watch your children play ball,” Purcell said.
Council did not take action on the request at the meeting; staff or councilmembers indicated the topic would require ordinance consideration and legal review before any change to traffic regulation could be made.
