Mexico council accepts easements for ARPA-funded stormwater projects; Missouri DNR clears construction to proceed

The Mexico City Council on April 28 passed a series of resolutions accepting permanent drainage easements and temporary construction easements needed for ARPA-funded stormwater improvement projects, including North Kentucky Street, Curtis Street and the West Love Street/North Abbott Street intersection.
Greg Sewell of the city engineering department told the council that permanent drainage easements for North Kentucky have been executed and that two temporary construction easements remain outstanding but are not critical for beginning work. "We have been advised by Missouri DNR that we can proceed with construction," Sewell said. He explained that temporary construction easements are needed on several lots for final grading and that permanent drainage easements grant the city access to maintain the new drainage infrastructure.
Council members read and passed multiple resolutions by title during a grouped presentation. Staff emphasized the easements are part of ARPA-funded stormwater projects tied to grant number DNR-SW-745E73C59FEE and a separate ARPA grant referenced for West Love/N. Abbott. The council moved each bill to passage in succession; roll-call votes recorded affirmative votes on the easement resolutions.
