Executive director: developer outreach under way; TMUA allocation about 150 equivalent hookups, agency to seek confirmation

The Pompton Lakes Redevelopment Agency’s executive director, Glenn Dominic, told the board he has met with multiple developers and is working on several downtown sites while awaiting confirmation of remaining wastewater (TMUA) allocation that will shape redevelopment capacity.
“I’ve had several meetings with John Abdul Hammeh … about his construction schedule and potential changes,” Dominic said, adding that he has met and toured downtown with interested developers to stimulate investment. Dominic reported a follow-up meeting with a developer identified as Mr. Vaskin regarding the site at 200 Avenue and said the agency continues work on the Sujin property at 61 Avenue alongside Borough officials.
Dominic said the Municipal Utilities Authority meeting to determine available connections was delayed by weather and expected to be rescheduled; he said the last figure circulating within the town was roughly 150 equivalent hookups. He described that number as a ballpark figure and explained that the 150 figure refers to an “equivalent” unit allocation rather than a straight count of apartments: allocations are measured by equivalent flow or SCDU/EDU units and can be translated into different combinations of buildings and units depending on square footage and expected flow.
Dominic emphasized the timing and sequencing for developers: projects already “in the pipeline” are counted in the MUA numbers, while proposals that have not been submitted do not reduce the remaining allocation. He urged developers to check hookup requirements and costs with the MUA early in project planning to avoid surprises, noting that hookup costs can be substantial and could affect project feasibility.
Board members said the MUA is consulting a firm to provide a technical analysis of available capacity; Dominic said he will report back to the mayor and agency after the rescheduled MUA meeting and provide the confirmed figures.
The agency noted that the TMUA allocation number will have a material effect on the borough’s redevelopment trajectory because it determines how many additional equivalent units can be served by sewer capacity; staff described the confirmation as an important near-term data point for planning and developer outreach.
