Students, teachers urge board to reinstate English teacher Mr. Muncy

Several speakers tied personal academic gains and postsecondary success to his instruction and presence.
Students described organized demonstrations at the high school — including a silent hallway protest attended by more than 100 students — and multiple public statements asking the board and administrators to facilitate his return. Teacher Jennifer Davey and students Lily Elhadi, Reagan Bryant and Bridget Chavis each delivered personal testimonials about Mr. Muncy’s classroom support, dual-enrollment instruction and broader impact on student morale.
Board members listened during the allotted public-comment period but did not announce a public action at the meeting to reinstate Mr. Muncy. Dr. Joyce and board members later continued with the posted agenda, including several action items and budget presentations.
