Radford board honors four retiring employees

The Radford City School Board recognized four employees retiring at the end of the school year during its May 13 meeting.
Trustees and staff honored Connie Wood (central office school nutrition staff), who was praised for stabilizing the nutrition program and improving facilities since joining the division in 2017; Mike Caro, a math teacher and cross‑country coach retiring after 26 years in education (23 at Radford High School); Becky Snyder, a teacher with a 30‑year career including 27 years in Radford City Schools; and Anne Goodman, a speech‑language pathologist retiring after 40 years with the division.
Speakers described the retirees’ roles and contributions: improved serving lines and facilities for the nutrition program, championship‑winning coaching and induction into the RHS Hall of Fame for Caro, broad teaching and mentoring roles for Snyder, and Goodman’s work as a speech‑language pathologist and parent resource center leader. Several trustees and administrators thanked the retirees and invited them to stand for recognition and photographs.
The recognitions were part of the schools and student showcase portion of the agenda and did not involve board action beyond expressions of thanks.
