Somerset County board enters executive session to discuss land acquisition, potential litigation and contract negotiations

The Somerset County Board of Commissioners voted to go into an executive session to discuss land acquisition, potential pending litigation and contract negotiations, the board’s legal counsel said.

County counsel explained the closed-session authority under chapter 10:4-12 and listed specific topics the board would discuss: the purchase, lease or acquisition of land (including JIF property, Southbound Brooks and the Schwartz property in Hillsborough Township), potential pending litigation, and a contract negotiation related to Somerset County Improvement Authority bonding and other Hillsborough negotiations, including an item referenced as Dientico. Counsel said the board would not take any action in open session and would adjourn directly from the executive session.

A motion was made and seconded to convene the executive session; the board voted in favor and the meeting record shows the board entered the closed session.
