The Somerset County Board of Commissioners opened a public hearing and adopted Ordinance 24-23-99 on Jan. 14 to establish lower speed limits along portions of County Route 512 in Peapack and Gladstone Borough, Bedminster Township and Far Hills (designation in the record). The ordinance reduces the posted speed in the specified zone from 35 mph to 25 mph.
The board received no public comments during the hearing and no one in the commissioners’ room spoke on the ordinance. A county official noted the change in posted limits to 25 mph. The board then moved to close the public hearing and, by roll call, adopted the ordinance.
The ordinance will take effect as specified in county rules and will be enforced according to county traffic regulations; the board did not discuss an implementation date at the hearing.
