Southside ISD board approves quarterly self-evaluation and sets next targets

The Southside ISD Board of Trustees approved its quarterly board self-evaluation Monday, keeping most scores at their prior levels and setting targets for the next quarter on vision, goals and governance measures.
Board President Jesse Hernandez led trustees through each evaluation category and proposed targets for the next quarter. The board kept its student-outcomes score at the “meet” level (12 points) with a target of 15 points for the next quarter on goals and moved one category (goal progress measures) to the higher level (15 points) during discussion.
The board reviewed other sections including constraints, superintendent progress measures, progress and accountability, systems and processes, advocacy and engagement, and synergy and teamwork. Trustees discussed community meetings and the board’s role in those sessions; the board decided to continue scheduling trustee sessions at community meetings to increase community familiarity with district vision and student-outcome goals.
A motion to approve the quarterly evaluation was called and passed by recorded vote; board members voted in favor during roll call and the chair announced the motion carried. Following the vote, the board adjourned to a closed session to consider personnel and security items under Texas law.
